The North Lyon County Veterans Memorial/Museum serves the residents of North Lyon County, surrounding communities and the numerous visitors who pass by along the Rail Trail and US Highway 56. Taxes have put a real hardship on us because we depend on donations. We have been unable to obtain state exemption due to Kansas Law. A portion of donations are spent on state sales and property taxes. The rapidly increasing tax burden is becoming difficult to overcome. We need your help to ensure the Memorial will be a benefit to future generations of this community.

We, the undersigned, are concerned citizens who urge our leaders to act on and support the following legislation introduced in the KS 2023-24 session:  "AN ACT concerning taxation; relating to sales and compensating use tax; providing for a sales tax exemption for purchases made to establish and maintain Kansas war memorials; relating to property tax; providing for an exemption for Kansas war memorials; amending K.S.A. 79-201 and K.S.A. 2022 Supp. 79-3606 and repealing the existing sections."
